send me them liner notes!

rising down

if youre a roots fan like i am then youve been spoiled into expecting elaborate liner notes every album. the notes for this album (i see you Khari Ferrari!!!!) are mad skimpy-actually there are no notes, just song credits-but that aint their fault. manufacturing costs go up the more pages your booklet is, and if im not mistaken, def jam wasnt having it this time…but like i said, if im not mistaken.

but wait! the new roots album has liner notes…complete with the lyrics AND those questlove “behind the song” stories that are usually included in the booklet…but you have to get it from itunes (because there is no manufacturing costs in data). but wait! someone somewhere in chain of production messed up and the behind the song shit wasnt included on itunes the first day, so you had to get story one from myspace.com/questlove and itunes is going to email everyone who bought the album the rest of the digital booklet?!?!?

*catches my breath and drinks water*

all that to say this, despite all that shit, the album is dope as shit, if you liked game theory and illadelphalflife then i cant see you not liking this one. BUT…i’m gonna need that digital booklet ASAP.

empty mall.

so mr don dub and myself were in cincinnati hitting up the malls when he says “we should go to this one mall i never go to because its usually too crowded”…long story short we go to this mall (4pm on a thursday) and theres NOONE IN THERE. no, i mean like, noone. if it wasnt for the one security guard and a worker or two in each store id think we were trespassing or something. peep the pictures i took with my phone:

its empty! now i know some people might say “but its a thursday afternoon!” nah…ive been across a decent amount of this country on many different days and theres ALWAYS people in the mall. ive never seen anything like this before and it blew my mind…had to blog about it. i used to work in a mall (if you listen to “stay tuned” you know that! haha) and it would only be like this after hours. no, actually even when the mall i worked at was CLOSED it had more people in it than this. i just had to share these with someone. im out…lol

teabag that hoe

youtube that. smh.

anyways, chicago was dope, I was too tired to blog in realtime. actually I’m still pretty out of it. I’m not complaining though. the show that night was live. chapter13 did the damn thing and those tanya morgan guys did too. when I get to see my dude eric’s pictures ill post one. I did what I always do in chicago (pictures coming soon once again…lol) then we went to nebraska. the nebraska show wasn’t really a show, we performed @ noon in a conference room at the university of nebraska at omaha. we should’ve had a powerpoint presentation upfront with us lol…BUT it was fun and the promoter and students were cool. the night before I ate a whole pizza and washed it down with a beer on some al bundy shit so I called myself balancing it out with fruit and superfood the next day. I still say that pizza played a role in this cramp I still have in my back….that and the 11 hour ride back to cincinnati. ill be home soon, but I’m not coming home to a checklist fuck all that…ima be in the crib walking around in my drawers playing music and drinking tropical fantasy for at least a week with no interruptions…to play catch up. and yes, I miss crown fried chicken thighs. (and womens thighs too)

tommorrow night we rock with ali shaheed in cincinnati, so if frank is reading this, tell him tanya morgan is ok and to not be turned off by the guy in the yankee caps’ fanboy shit. thanks mayne.

out!

…continued!!!!!

ithaca. we started in nyc. drove through new jersey, then pensylvania. back into new york, but upstate. now I could’ve sworn id taken a much shorter trip to ithaca when I was dating this girl named theresa and she went to school out there, but maybe I’m wrong and thinking of another school she went to. anyway, going through 2 states that i always considered south of nyc to go north of nyc doesn’t sound right to me but maybe I need to see a map.

anyway we got there and we were at this hotel across from a mall and it felt like we were all alone in a small town. I loved it though. we bought way too much beer and didn’t drink it, instead ate subway (we’ve eaten so much subway since we been on tour. fuck jared. its delicious though.) and waited for the show. when we got there the bartender was very happy and very ready to make drinks, so drinks got made. the show went on, blah blah boring stuff, we tried to go to an afterparty but ended up playing wii again so we went back to the hotel and…ate more subway? whatever.

the virginia show was pretty dope. oh wait…by the way we went from ny to boston to ny to ithaca to ny to va to ny to north carolina in like a week. haha…dumb. anyway yeah, va. we had fans and supporters AT SOUNDCHECK SON. the venue was  like a sports bar / resturant with a stage so it was dope. not much to say about this one, we ate, performed, got paid and went back to the hotel. the main story of this one is the waitress letting us order shit without saying “oh the tab is closed” that was lame. sorry there’s no big story.

I can’t talk about the new york show, but it was madness backstage. check dons blog for that one. and I’m not tellin yall about NORTH CAROLINA BECAUSE NOBODY COMMENTED ON MY LAST ENTRY WITH THE VIDEO AND DON BLOGGED ABOUT IT BUT WHITE CASTLE WAS MORE INTERESTING THAN THE GREAT MUSIC MADE IN NC THAT DAY.

sadface.

ashville was funny. forget the stone faces that are enjoying it in ny and toronto…ASHEVILLE owns stone faced enjoyment. I still say we bombed. we did what we always do but id swear asheville wasn’t impressed. a few stonefaced folks said it was dope though.

chicago this friday….I think ima try to blog about it live or something. not in real time, ima keep notes with the time and then upload it all after the fact.

peace
