we were at the 2007 power summit in las vegas for the xm/myspace “show em what you got!” contest when we came up with this track. we were in the hotel playing music and ilyas puts on a cd by this cat named “mysterious” out of cincinnati. it gets to this beat and I think il was skipping it but I wanted to hear it. we basically did the “head nod in unison” thingamajig and out of nowhere we all started singing “the bridge! the the the bridge!” obviously it wasn’t all at once…on some “grease” shit (haha) but that’s such a classic hook (its lifted from mc shan for the younger cats) that once one person hinted at it we all just knew where it was going and loved it. we then told il to put the beat in the stash and finished drinking. then I think we went to in and out burger. man we took a 20 dollar cab from the rio hotel to in and out and another one back like some real hood rich nig…brothers. all for in and out. one thing about tanya morgan: no matter how many times we visit one of our favorite cities, we act like new nig…brothers every time. anyway when we got back to brooklynati we went to work. elucid of loosie/lessondary fame came through to dons spot and did the hook because his delivery is so ill. now if you don’t know elucid, please get familiar! he’s in another world. don, filthy, and I just sat there hype…this was simply him doing a hook! and this is our boy! he still geeks us out when he rhymes. fanboy shit. sue us. I added the epmd “you gots to chill” influenced echo to the verses at il’s request, turned them down at the label’s request(blah), and that’s that.

I guess on tuesday ill start posting my liners on the ep here. I’m doing one a week though. not because I’m lazy but because that way I can guarantee you’ll remember us for at least another 9 weeks! it won’t be a big deal though. very basic. hopefully I will be able to since we’re supposed to be on tour starting mid july. I don’t know when the actual tour will be announced but I will say this: cali, we’re coming! I know some of you are mad at us but it wasn’t our fault. it was nobodies fault! he did it! nobody loves us, and just likes telling us what we need to do. lol

I need to learn piano too. I got plans and goals!

…trying to keep up with all of this music coming out. jesus. if i organized my itunes by date id get depressed by the number of full length releases that are old in my mind and it probably hasnt been a month since some of them dropped.

i know young h is gonna be in here in 5…4…3…haha

shit…well i dont know when brooklynati is coming out but i hope it doesnt drop (aka leak) the same day as 4 other mixtapes/free albums/album leaks.

I have a very important question

do we have a “song”?

what I mean is…lets say you come to a tanya morgan show. what song do you expect to hear? I know we don’t have a huge following yet (yet mufucka yet! (c) radio pea) but still, what joint would you say “oh they have to do that, that’s the main song!”

cause see I think its “we be” but I think ilyas thinks its “walk my way” and I don’t know what joint don thinks, but we act like its “and you say”

when fans usually compliment us its “I love the mixtape” or “the ep is crazy!” or “moonlighting was my shit!” but there’s never really a specific song. in chicago it was “yall better do cuddle bums!” in pittsburgh “where’s waiting for you/sitting at the bar?” in denver “do pretty!” and in virginia I think some dudes wanted to hear…we bad or something.

but ok the question isn’t what’s your fave as much as it is what do you think our main song is. pretend we’re kweli and hi tek…what’s our “the blast”?

p.s. if you feel we don’t have a main song say that too. and name your fave anyway.
