stop making sense
the name tanya morgan doesnt mean anything. just a name. we are from brooklyn and cincinnati….so i/we thought brooklynati was obvious but a lot of people dont think it is…
so check it. on May 12th we are putting out a new album (IN STORES) called “Brooklynati”. thats Brooklyn + Cincinnati. so its pronounced like that…with the nati from Cincinnati at the end of Brooklyn. i wanted to explain the idea of Brooklynati to some people because, we realize how much of an inside joke it is. since we dont represent one place we’ve decided to combine the 2 hometowns (Brooklyn and Cincinnati) and make our own hometown (Brooklynati). when you buy the cd on May 12th (or any day after that) there will be a map inside of the liner notes. the map ties in with this website: http://www.brooklynati.com/home.html
if you click around on that website, you will see how cool and nerdy we are. that makes us us though. dont be hatin. theres a LOT of inside jokes in there (dont feel bad, even i dont get some of them. its a group effort), stores named after people weve worked with or perfomed with over the years, etc. and its all apart of keeping the experience of putting music out fun. couldve very easily made a cd, pressed it up and called it a day but we didnt. and we arent.

3 things
1) tanya morgan live at sxsw
http://sharebee.com/00fd5d2f
2) im sitting down checking out the girl that inspired “want you to want me” from “moonlighting” and I don’t remember her butt being that big. oh, why is she here? were not together, im just nearby her. no stalk-o, she saw me and we said hi. but….daaamn.
3) today was the first day of my rap workout. it went alright, but I need to figure out how to move it to the living room so I can have more space. maybe the bedroom is better I don’t know…but yeah, every day, for a half hour, from now on…I plan to put my (own) music on shuffle and perform whatever the hell comes on. rap workout!! LETS GO PEOPLE (c) diddy
im on a “do sh*t for other n*ggas” vaycay.

im about to watch “man on the moon” and “kentucky fried movie” thanks to netflix (coming back from an out of town trip and having new movies in the mail is almost as cool as coming home to a lady (thats not mad at you)). then sometime between watching those movies and going to canada in april (more on that one of these days) i plan on finally working on my own REAL music again. no beats under jay z lyrics, no rapping over kanye or madlib instrumentals, i mean just my own original songs. its been a while and i didnt realize how long its been….over a year maybe since ive done an original song that was just my song.
i know i probably should talk about sxsw (south by southwest) but people have been twitting their minds out about it so you know more than i do at this point. our first show was okay for 4 guys (including dj low key) performing 5 new songs* over a shitty sound system. </excuses>
kay performed “were fly” with us though and that was my #1 goal of sxsw.
second night was better, much better. peter hadar and blu featured with us on our sets and that was fun. the highlight of sxsw was janelle monae being janelle monae. shes mad dreamy. mad dreamy. i see why danny! named an instrumental after her.
im out
*no more websites for the suckas

i miss being (more of) a geek

let me tell you why netflix is my friend: based on my like of movies like knocked up, superbad, and finding sara silv…wait, what? no, i mean forgetting sarah marshall, they recommended “freaks and geeks” to me. i’d never heard of it, like many things that exist (believe it or not, i hang out under a rock at times), but i decided to give it a shot. i got the first dvd in the mail and turned it on. i thought to myself “this sucks already…the stereotypical high school roles are being assigned within the first 5 minutes” but i gave it a shot and ended up loving it, to the point that i was sad by the time i got to the final episode. its funny, they say that they wrote a final/”closure” episode early because they just figured the show wouldnt last. they were right, they only shot one season. its funny how we as humans can grow attatched to things, even fictional characters on a tv show. id never heard of this show a month ago now im gushing over it. best part? most of the actors from this show are usually in those judd apatow movies. i want to say ensamble cast, but thats not exactly the term. rotating cast?
anyways, thanks netflix. i may buy this boxset one day.
