Track 2 – Alleye need F/ Piakhan

So here i was. Sitting in fwmj’s backyard eating a burger. Chilling. I get a text message from Ilyas:

“i want Piakhan on the album”

not that him being on the album was a problem because he’s the man, the problem was there were so many people on the album already, and i was still waiting on features to be turned in, now i had to wait for another one! on that note i was being selfish, but still, theres a lot of features as is. I realized i was wilding for second guessing having khan on the track once we heard what he was doing to it. I didnt doubt it would be good, but I had noooooooo idea…that hook? man listen, we didnt really have a solid idea for this beat before he came through. He jumped in the drivers seat on this one.

funny thing is for so long i thought this beat and the “intermission” beat were one track with a changeup. the way i had them ordered on the beat tape i guess. with that said, at one point they were supposed to be one song. i remember when i wrote and recorded my part, way before piakhan came through, it was my verse, space for a chorus, then the beat was supposed to change into the intermission music and become another song…well not another song, the same song with a beat changeup. like outkast “humble mumble” (folks compare us to de la but outkast was my #1 motivation for this entire album…like how we’re fly into just arrived is my version of liberation into chonkyfire, etc.) actually on that note, all the features played a family role the same way all the  features do on an outkast album. you never really notice all the people on a kast lp. anyway once khan got on the track it all changed and became one beat. the other beat became the intermission as you know it.

now as for Brick Beats? when he sent me this track separated (all the parts of the beat separated) i was like dude! we can break this beat down in so many ways! at this point i felt someone had to sacrifice rapping over the actual beat to do this beat justice. i was afraid to go to il and don like “who wants to NOT rap to the actual full beat, but rap to the beat building up?” so i just did it myself, i took my verse and rerecorded it to the beat building up so it would have the energy to fit. in retrospect my verse is kind of like dre’s on “international players anthem” how his verse is more like a long intro to the actual song starting (See, more outkast influence!)

at the end of the song i wanted it to break back down, so its like the party is starting, then its ending and everyones packing up by the end. a quick 4 minute party. then Autumn comes in at the end with the daily announcements. that skit was inspired by me watching bcat (brooklyn public access tv) and in between shows they sometimes have local announcements with a person announcing events happening in brooklyn over the weekend or whatever. it would always be some smooth jazz music or something and a voice or text saying “this thursday at restoration plaza! wynton marsalis!” or some shit like that. haha…i know it came across more like someone on the radio, but thats just my random ass obscure references again. wait til my solo album! haha oh god.
