Track 4 – Bang & Boogie

this track came out one day on impulse. actually i may have just turned the mic on and started saying bang n boogie just to say it. now the motivation behind it…ha! all stores have been inspired by real life. plenty…well, not plenty…but some of us out there have taken PDA a little too far before. most of us have done it during our high school years because there was nowhere to go, others are just exhibitionists and total pervs. jokes.

most artists gather inspiration or stories by combining experiences and thats what i ended up doing. we used to go to the mall and meet girls and it would always conveniently be an equal amount of males and females…if it was 3 of us we would run into 3 girls. 2 of us? 2 girls. a group of us? group of girls. i remember one time we were on the bus loud as hell (being teenagers) and a group of girls got on and we all got quiet as hell. the girls commenced to clowning us for no real reason (being teenagers) and we didnt say anything…but when they got off we then clowned them back. i dont know why we didnt just battle them, usually we had jokes on anyone at the drop of a hat…i remember they were pretty bad though…hmm thats why. now dont get it twisted, we were young fly cats. if it was some new jordans out, at least 2 of us had them. new air max? at least 2 of us had them. and we had the name brand of the time on our backs to match. they just needed someone to make fun of. not to mention we got a lot of….nevermind. well i didnt, i was shy. i do now though. HA!

that was tacky…sorry. anyway…ontop of that you’d have those times where you might be out with a girl back in the day and (side note: im from new york, we dont have cars and backseats) want to make out or whatever. without getting graphic, thats the main point of this song.

il’s story is based on adult situations more than kids playing adult. men and women alike have been in the situation where you’re alone with a person for the first time and a red flag goes off. maybe homegirl/homeboys apartment is too nasty. maybe dude brings up not liking condoms. maybe honey brings up how bad she wants a baby…lol! its time to be out of there. no bang, just boogie.

brick beats is a beast. there was no way we were going to just let that break sit under the horns and not come out for a solo of its own. this song stayed the same from its demo phase other than rerecording it and changing the end so the break would play out more. the hook used to come back in after dons part and fade out but its repetitive enough already…no need to hear it again after that. the skit after the song was the first skit done for the album and it was just an inside joke at first (we were considering no skits at first, just music) but when i emailed it out the guys thought it was funny so we added it. the hardcore gentlemen beat in the background was the version before donwill said to add the sleigh bells…but we will talk about that later.

next up…dont you holla!
